Get in the game

At its core, Celestia is about participation.

A key goal of Celestia is to make it easy for everyone to independently verify the state of the Celestia blockchain. With most blockchains, most users trust centralized nodes about the state of the chain. But with Celestia, the goal is for everyone to verify the chain directly. No trust required.

Users verify the Celestia chain by running light nodes. As the term implies, running a light node is not computationally intense. It’s easy to do! Even on weaker devices.

Easy as pie

A Celestia light node is so light, it can even run in an Internet browser. So if a device can run a browser, it can run a light node.

Visit https://lumina.rs to run a browser-based light node. With decent Internet speed, it should fully sync with the Celestia blockchain in a matter of minutes.

More advanced users can use the CLI light node, which can theoretically be run on almost any Internet-connected device.

Get creative

Now that you have your light node running, it’s time to get creative!

Take a photo of your device running a Celestia light node in a cool location, and post it to X with the hashtag #CelestiaLightnode. To make your photo stand out, try to find an interesting location and run the light node on a unique device.

For inspiration, check out the Celestia X page, which often reposts photos of users running Celestia light nodes.

Four winners will be chosen, based on 1) photo taken in a cool, interesting location, and 2) light node running on a unique device. The challenge starts now and ends August 31st.

First-place will receive a Celestine Sloth NFT and a ticket to Modular Summit 2025. Three runners up will each receive a ticket to Modular Summit 2025.

A Celestia light node can be run by anyone, anywhere, on almost any device. Time to prove it!
