Summary
-Stride Hyperlane bridge deployment is live now
-Forma has also launched today. Forma is network for onchain creations built on Astria with Celestia underneath
-Click here to bridge TIA from Celestia Mainnet Beta to Forma
-The native token of Forma is TIA, and the only way to get TIA to Forma today is by using Stride Hyperlane on the back end
-Stride Hyperlane makes IBC extensible. Use IBC to transfer tokens to Stride, then use Stride Hyperlane to transfer tokens to any Hyperlane deployment
The launch of Forma
Forma is a chain purpose-built for NFTs, and the first sovereign rollup on Celestia. Recently, the Celestine Sloth Society NFT collection showcased the power of NFTs for building community and attracting attention. Now, the modular community will have a dedicated chain for Celestia-native culture.
Forma is also the first EVM rollup with TIA as its native currency. Forma is built on the Astria EVM framework, and will eventually use the Astria shared sequencer. Naturally, it uses Celestia for data availability. Notably, Forma is the first Celestia sovereign rollup, which means it doesn’t use a separate chain for settlement.
But Forma is not just for NFTs as they’re traditionally understood. Forma will enable onchain artistic expression with cutting-edge powers by introducing custom precompiles to the EVM. Imagine composable NFTs, interactive NFTs, modular NFTs.
Forma will be at the frontier of NFT experimentation, just as Celestia itself is at the frontier of blockchain scaling.
Forma’s native token
At launch, Forma’s native token, TIA, will be exclusively bridged through Stride’s Hyperlane deployment. Specifically, TIA will be bridged from Celestia to Stride using the inter-blockchain communication protocol (IBC), and then the TIA on Stride will be bridged to Forma using Hyperlane.
This flow is abstracted from the user. With a simple bridge interface, TIA from Celestia transfers seamlessly to Forma. Most Forma users probably will not even realize their TIA on Forma is bridged through Stride on the backend.
Stride chain is key for bridging within the Celestia ecosystem.
Forma is the first Celestia chain to use TIA bridged from Stride. But soon it will be joined by many others. Eclipse, Manta, and Karak, and Movement may similarly incorporate TIA bridged from Stride. In time, dozens and then hundreds of Celestia chains could rely on TIA bridged from Stride.
Celestia is a Cosmos SDK chain, so TIA can easily be bridged from Celestia to any other Cosmos chain using the native IBC bridge. But for non-IBC chains, Stride will likely emerge as the default routing hub for TIA.
In other words, the Stride Hyperlane bridge makes IBC extensible. IBC to Stride, and then use Hyperlane to bridge to many non-IBC chains.
Stride is ideal to serve as a routing hub for TIA because Stride is uniquely neutral, secure, and minimal. And Hyperlane is an ideal bridging framework, because it is uniquely permissionless and widely interoperable across different blockchains.
As the premier Celestia liquid staking provider and as the emerging routing hub for Celestia bridging, Stride is becoming a major provider of key utilities in the Celestia ecosystem.
